They’re back!
We loved having the good folks from Karlsson’s Gold Vodka earlier this year, so we had to have them back for the August Sip & Shop! You ready for some of the tastiest vodka available?
We sure hope so because you’re in for a multi cocktail experience. First up, the Cape Bjare Daiquiri, created by our friend Joy Richard. (And trust us when we tell you this is a tasty drink!) There will also be an additional cocktail made with Aquavit. Two drinks people!

And if that weren’t enough, we’re going to double the discount this time and everything the store will be 20% off. Just for this Saturday! REPEAT 20% off everything in Grand. You honestly cannot beat that! It’s all going down this Saturday, August 28, from 2-6pm.
Tell your friends. Tell everyone you know.
P.S. For you cocktail peeps, word on the street is some of the vintage vodkas will be unleashed as well!

Two words that mean pure happiness!
Grand is hosting the 2nd Annual Ice Cream Showdown brought to you by EatBoston and you’re invited!
Here are the deets
On Saturday, August 21, in Union Square, Somerville, Ice Cream Showdown North will take place with Stonyfield, Chilly Cow Custard, JP Licks, Christina’s, Toscanini’s, and Picco. This will be in the parking lot next to Grand at 374 Somerville Ave from 2-4 PM.

Check it out on Facebook!
For just $8 you’ll get to taste all this ice cream!
And the real coolness is that Stonyfield is making it possible for 100% of the ticket sales to be donated. Raised funds will be donated to deserving local organizations Lovin’ Spoonful, Share our Strength, Somerville Local First, Arts Union, and Community Servings. Win!
And if that’s not enough for you to do on Saturday, check out the Bazaar Bizarre happening in Union Square from 4PM-8PM. The fair will feature handmade housewares, jewelry, fine art, toys and ceramics for sale, while visitors to the neighborhood can try their hand at several do-it-yourself workshops and hear local bands perform.
Do Saturday’s get more fun than that?

This weekend, August 14-15, is Tax Free Weekend! Yup, that means all your lovely purchases at GRAND will be free of tax. It’s a great time to buy those larger ticket items you’ve had your eye on. But we’re going to kick it up a notch. We are tripling the tax savings on all purchases over $50, adding an additional 12.5% off. What’s that mean? That means you get a great deal is what that means!
And while you’re in the square this weekend, be sure to check out Union’s latest craft market, The Paper Party, a specialty market that showcases paper in its many forms — you’ll find letterpress, binders, framers, publishers, origami, and paper mache. It’s happening this Saturday from 3-7pm.
Amazing weather, great local markets, and tax-free savings all add up for an awesome weekend. See you soon!

It’s been a crazy hot and hazy summer, and we’ve been getting lots of great new summery products in. First off, the Summer 2010 limited edition Field Notes celebrate one of our favorite things about summer: the County Fair. (I mean, what’s not to love about cheese fries, snow cones, and demo derbies?) Each Field Notes County Fair 3-Pack highlights an individual U.S. state, with one memo book each in the colors of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place County Fair ribbons; blue, red and yellow, with metallic gold printing and 48 pages of graph paper with light blue/grey lines inside. The back covers feature a bevy of meticulously-researched state facts and figures. We’re keeping it close to home and offering editions for Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and New York. These are super awesome and super limited so get them while you can!

And in celebration of another beloved summer pastime – the Farmers Market – we have these porcelain Farmers Market Baskets from Roost. Perfect for your favorite berries, but also great as a wedding gift or a display piece for your home.
And one more thing! We’ve changed our Sunday hours so we are now open from 12-5. Hope you’re enjoying the summer heat and see you soon!

It’s time for our July Sip & Shop! In the interest of keeping it local we’re partnering, once again, with a local brewery – Rapscallion! And they’ll be pouring Rapscallion Honey which is an extra pale style ale infused with native wildflower honey from local farmers. We’re talking honey here people!
And besides the sweet beer, everything in Grand will be 10% off. Sweet like honey if we say so ourselves. See you between 2PM-6PM this Saturday, July 31st.
Also, there’s a rumor that our neighbor under the roof Poor Little Rich Girl will be having a BIG sale as well. Yes, BIG.
So to recap. Amazing beer. 10% off everything at Grand. BIG Sale at PLRG. Honey, you’d be a fool not to come and bring your friends!
