First of all, a big thanks to the fabulous ladies of LUPEC and all of you who came out on Saturday for our Mint Julep Sip & Shop! It was the perfect day for tasty cocktails and we hope everyone had a great time too! We’re working on some awesome events for the coming months (including a big storewide sale!) and have a few new tricks up our sleeves as well.
We also wanted to mention some great stuff happening this weekend. Somerville Open Studios is this Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3, 12-6pm. There is so much amazing art in Somerville and this is the perfect chance to see it up close! And speaking of amazing local artists, we just got in some great new prints from Chris Piascik of Print Brigade and restocked tees from Somerville’s own Artefacture, so stop on by and check it out!

Also happening this Saturday is Taza Chocolate’s Spring Open House from 10am-6pm. We are huge fans of Taza and highly encourage everyone to take advantage of the chance to get a sneak peek of their factory (oh, and you can probably taste some chocolate as well).

Still not enough for you? Once you’ve had your fill of art and chocolate, head into town for the Kentucky Derby Run for the Roses Party at Drink from 4-7pm. Tickets are $40 per person and include three classic Kentucky cocktails, canapés, and a vintage cocktail glass to take home! Call Drink to reserve your spot!
Whew! And as always, Grand is open this weekend and brimming with lovely gifts for Mother’s Day, or you, because after this winter you deserve it, right? See you soon!

On this Saturday (4/25) from 2-6PM we’ll be celebrating our April Sip & Shop with our very good friends, the lovely ladies of LUPEC. What do we have up our sleeves this time? Think horses, Kentucky, mint, and bourbon! And it rhymes with Lint Tulip!

Oh, and also think 10% off EVERYTHING in the store! Swing on by… and for the record, Derby hats and seersucker are highly encouraged! By the way, we just checked the weather for Saturday and it’s supposed to be sunny and in the 80’s! The 80’s people! Woohooo!!
TELL YOUR FRIENDS!
Check it out on Facebook.
PS – Yes we know it’s a week before the actual Kentucky Derby.

Yay!! The Phoenix awarded us the Editors’ Pick for “Best Apartment Stuff You Didn’t Know You Needed” for their Best of 2009 listings. We’re honored, not to mention psyched about the great write-up and photo (if we do say so ourselves). Check it out here. Thanks a bunch!

It’s Earth Day and Union Sq. Yoga/Shobu Aikido is teaming up with GRAND.
Yoga teacher Jenn Pici will be at GRAND from 7:00-8:30ish pm on 4/22 talking up her yoga classes at the dojo, answering questions and even doing some demos of poses. Plus, free Sake! And we should mention this is high-quality sake, not that hot sake that makes you do a funny face as soon as you drink it. If you’ve never had good sake you should. Much like wine a good sake will have hints of strawberry, vanilla, chocolate etc.

Come check it out and bring more friends and get ready for some downward facing dogs!

So just when we got finished talking about our awesome new tees, some more came in! These are brand new for spring from Umsteigen, one of our favorite independent clothing designers in Brooklyn. Umsteigen’s designs are truly unique and special, and as if that isn’t enough, each piece is screenprinted by hand in limited quantities. Even more, the tees below are made of 70% bamboo, 30% cotton sheer jersey. What’s so special about bamboo, you might ask? The easy answer is that it’s super soft and comfy. But it’s also a sustainable fabric that is eco-friendly. Plus, it’s perfect for warm weather because bamboo wicks moisture away, making it amazing for summer. It’s a win-win!
