First of all, the Sip & Shop is back! We’ll be having a June Sip & Shop THIS Saturday, June 26, from 2-6 pm. We’re especially psyched for this one because we’ll be serving beer from Cambridge brewery Pretty Things! If you’re familiar with them, you already know that this stuff is goooood; and if you’ve never had it before, you’re in for a treat! We’ve also got some great new products, and yes, everything at Grand will be 10% OFF as well!

And we’re also happy to announce that Poor Little Rich Girl is now open! We think the store looks amazing and we’re really excited to be sharing space with them. We also have to give a huge shout out to Somerville Local First for hooking us up with Poor Little Rich Girl in the first place and helping to make this happen. It’s a great local success story, if we say so ourselves!

It’s supposed to be sunny and warm on Saturday, so hit up the Union Square Farmer’s Market, then come to Grand to check out our new neighbor and do some sippin’ and shoppin’!

Why will we be closed, you ask? Well in case you haven’t heard, we have some big big news! We are very excited to announce that Grand will soon be sharing space with Poor Little Rich Girl. Yes, that’s right. Now you’ll be able to get contemporary home furnishings with awesome vintage right in Union Sq. It’s gonna be so great and we really couldn’t be happier about it. We’re basically splitting the store in half so we need another day to get our side sorted out and then we will be back in business.

And speaking of business, we’ll be having a storewide sale this weekend to make room for awesome new products. And it’s a big one! This Saturday and Sunday, May 22-23, EVERYTHING in the store will be 25% off. Hope to see you there!

We’ll be pouring two (2) amazing wines coming out of the stunningly beautiful Casablanca Valley area of Chile. First up will be a 2009 Casa Viva Sauvignon Blanc. And secondly, a 2008 Casa Viva Pinot Noir. Both are serious, serious YUM. They’re graaaape (said in the Tony the Tiger voice).

And if that’s not good enough for an early spring Saturday afternoon, we’re also doing something extra special this time. And if you’re interested in computational design, Jesse will be teaching a class, “Computational Design: a new look at the natural world,” on the MIT campus starting on March 24. This seminar is a project-driven survey of techniques in computational design. The goal is to develop a broad understanding of approaches to simulation problems and how to translate these approaches to the tasks of design. During this survey of techniques, participants will be working to develop their own computational project. More information can be found here.
