Grand will be CLOSED both Wednesday and Thursday of this week (April 14-15) in order to set up shop at the Residential Design and Construction Conference in Boston. Why? Well, Grand has been given the extraordinary privilege of being their retail vendor of choice this year. This is a HUGE deal for us and wouldn’t have happened without the support of all our great customers (or, more specifically, you!). If you’re attending, please be sure to stop by!
And while we’ll be closed for two days, we hope to build new relationships which will help continue to foster our growth. We apologize for any inconvenience and we’ll be back open for normal business hours on Friday at noon!

That’s right, the next Sip & Shop is this Saturday, March 27, from 2-6 pm. And this one is gonna be even more Grand! How is that possible, you ask? Well, 1st things 1st!
We’ll be pouring two (2) amazing wines coming out of the stunningly beautiful Casablanca Valley area of Chile. First up will be a 2009 Casa Viva Sauvignon Blanc. And secondly, a 2008 Casa Viva Pinot Noir. Both are serious, serious YUM. They’re graaaape (said in the Tony the Tiger voice).
And if that’s not good enough for an early spring Saturday afternoon, we’re also doing something extra special this time. Instead of the usual 10% off, will be having a one-day sale that EVERYTHING will be 20% off. Let us REPEAT – Everything in the store for Saturday will be 20% off during the March Sip & Shop. ONE DAY ONLY kids…
Tell your friends. Tell your enemies. Tell that person you ran into on the T this morning who you used to work with, but can’t remember their name. Basically tell every human you know. See you on Saturday!

We’ve been selling Nervous System’s amazing jewelry since we opened, so we’re extra excited for the event we’re hosting this Thursday, March 18 from 6:30-10:00 pm. The latest in AIGA Boston’s Emerging Ideas series, Jesse Louis-Rosenberg, co-founder of Nervous System, will give a lecture on “New Technologies & Natural Phenomena.” He will discuss the creative process from nature, to computation, to design, to product. Following the lecture, we’ll be open late for shopping. And if that’s not enough of a draw, food from Bloc 11 and drinks from Harpoon Brewery will be served.

More details can be found here. There will also be a corresponding daytime workshop; the information on the lecture and event is listed below that.
And if you’re interested in computational design, Jesse will be teaching a class, “Computational Design: a new look at the natural world,” on the MIT campus starting on March 24. This seminar is a project-driven survey of techniques in computational design. The goal is to develop a broad understanding of approaches to simulation problems and how to translate these approaches to the tasks of design. During this survey of techniques, participants will be working to develop their own computational project. More information can be found here.
